Biography

GALI is a Canadian singer and songwriter from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She achieved mainstream success with her 2013 single “I’m alive” and the 2014 release “Tomorrow Never Dies”.

 

Gali was born in Afula, Israel. She is the youngest child to Romanian-born parents. As a young girl, Gali started writing poetry and by the age of 14, she was crafting lyrics to her own original songs. She started singing by the age of 5 and performing at festivals and national events by age 7. In 2002, Gali released her first self-titled album which was produced and arranged by her vocal producer and co-writer Norm Sabourin. The record featured a mixture of Latin beats, overlaying electric and acoustic guitars. Canadian legend Jeff Healey hosted her CD release party which was also aired on TLN Television Network.

 

In 2011, Gali was signed to RYAL Music and in the fall of 2012, she released her first single Dancing To Another Love Song, a collaboration with London-based remix team Digital Dog a.k.a. Steve Cornish and Nick Mace. The single gained much popularity in the UK and has peaked at #11 on Music Week’s Commercial Pop Top 30 Club Chart.

 

In Summer 2013, Gali released her second single “I’m Alive” which featured remixes by UK producers Cahill, German DJ Tocadisco and Grammy nominated American producer Mike Rizzo. The single spent many weeks on the UK Top 40 Club charts peaking at #5 on Music Week Upfront Top 40 Club Charts, #6 on Commercial Pop Top 30 Charts and #18 on Cool Cuts Top 20 Charts. I’m Alive” also appeared at #9 on the North American DJ Times Xover Top 40 charts and #15 on USA FMQB Record Pool Top 20 Chart.

 

In July 2014, Gali released her third single Tomorrow Never Dies. Grammy nominated DJ/Producer Dave Audé who has nearly 100 No. 1 charted U.S. dance tracks to date, has taken the song under his direction adding a spicy and sassy flavor for the radio edit. The song quickly climbed up UK club charts peaking at #7 on Upfront Top 40 Club Charts, #8 on Commercial Pop Top 30 Charts and #16 on DJ Times National Club Chart. “Tomorrow Never Dies” was selected two weeks in a row on the 3 New Beat Of The Week (The Remix Top 30 Countdown in New York) and also peaked in the top 200 (#194) on USA hot AC radio in August 2014.

 

GALI is focused on writing songs that inspire people. “I always try to express exactly how I feel” she says. “I write music that reflects my own outlook on life. It’s about my own experiences, my perspective, my thoughts & feelings and my unique vision of the world. I try to be as diplomatic as possible…..but sometimes it’s hard” she admits.

 

Beyond music, Gali is the founder of Toronto Singing Academy” one of Toronto’s leading vocal training schools. She also volunteers at local animal shelters and devotes her free time to rescuing and finding safe and happy homes for many homeless pets.
